Insurance & Financial Privacy Notice
IAM Money Management, LLC
Effective date: October 2, 2026
Why you are receiving this notice
IAM Money Management, LLC ("IAM") is an independent insurance agency licensed in California. We give you this notice when you begin working with us on an insurance need, such as life insurance, annuities, health coverage or Medicare, and once a year while you remain our client. It explains what personal information we collect in connection with insurance services, where it comes from, when we may disclose it, and your right to see and correct it.
The insurance companies we work with also give you their own privacy notices when you apply for or receive coverage. Their notices describe how they handle your information. This notice describes how IAM handles it.
Information we collect
Depending on the coverage you're considering, we may collect:
- Identifying and contact information, such as your name, address, phone, email and date of birth, and, when an application requires it, your Social Security number and Medicare number
- Household and financial information, such as household members and dependents, income, assets, debts, existing insurance and retirement accounts, and your goals
- Health-related information, when needed for health insurance, Medicare or life insurance applications, such as your medications, doctors and health history
- Information about your insurance transactions, such as applications, policies, premiums, beneficiaries, claims questions and service requests
- Communications, including messages, notes from our conversations and, for Medicare sales and enrollment, recordings of calls and web-based meetings as federal rules require
Where we get information
- From you, in conversations, applications, forms and the IAM client portal
- From insurance companies, about your applications, policies and service
- From people you authorize, such as a family member or representative helping you
- From public records
Insurance companies may also obtain information from other sources when they decide whether to issue coverage, such as consumer reporting agencies, MIB, Inc., prescription databases, and medical professionals and facilities with your written authorization. Each insurance company's notice explains those practices.
How we collect information
IAM does not use pretext interviews, and IAM does not prepare investigative consumer reports about clients. If an insurance company asks for an investigative consumer report in connection with your application, it will notify you as the law requires. You may ask to be interviewed for that report and to receive a copy of it.
How we use information
We use your information to understand your needs, explain options, help you apply for and keep coverage, service your policies, keep records the law requires, prevent fraud, and comply with insurance laws and regulations.
When we may disclose information
IAM discloses your information only as the law allows. Without your written authorization, California law permits disclosures such as:
- To the insurance companies we work with, to apply for, issue, service or administer your coverage
- To IAM agents and staff who work on your account, and to our service providers, who must keep it confidential
- To insurance regulators, law enforcement and other government agencies, when required or permitted by law
- To detect or prevent insurance fraud, misrepresentation or criminal activity
- In response to a subpoena, court order or other legal process
- To an insurance support organization, as described below
- As otherwise permitted by California Insurance Code Section 791.13
Any other disclosure requires your authorization.
We do not share your nonpublic personal information with nonaffiliated companies for their marketing, and we do not sell it. IAM has no affiliated companies with which it shares your information.
The nonaffiliated companies that may receive your information are insurance companies, our insurance marketing organization, service providers that help us operate (such as technology, communications and recordkeeping providers), and government agencies, regulators and courts. IAM shares information with them only as described above and as the law permits, so no opt-out is needed. If IAM ever plans to share your information in a way that requires your choice, we will give you a new notice and the opportunity to decide first.
Former clients. If you stop being an IAM client, we continue to protect your information and handle it as described in this notice.
Insurance support organizations
Information about you that an insurance company obtains may be reported to an insurance support organization, such as MIB, Inc., which may keep it and disclose it to other insurance companies as the law permits.
Your right to see and correct your information
You may ask IAM, in writing, for access to the recorded personal information we have about you in connection with insurance services. Within 30 business days of receiving your request and enough information to identify you, we will tell you the nature and substance of that information, let you see and copy it, and identify the people or organizations we have disclosed it to in the last two years, as the law requires. Medical information may be provided to you directly, or through a medical professional you choose.
If you believe information we hold is wrong, you may ask us, in writing, to correct, amend or delete it. Within 30 business days, we will either make the change or tell you why we won't. If we don't make the change, you may give us a short statement explaining what you believe is correct, and we will include it with your file and with future disclosures, as the law requires.
These rights apply to information IAM holds. To see or correct information an insurance company holds, contact that insurance company.
How we protect information
We limit access to the IAM agents and staff who need your information to serve you, and we protect it with administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including encrypted connections, role-based access controls and private document storage.
How long we keep information
We keep insurance records as long as insurance laws, our agreements with insurance companies, Covered California and, for Medicare, federal rules require: generally 7 years after a transaction or client relationship ends, 10 years for Medicare sales and enrollment records, and longer where an agreement, such as IAM's Covered California agreement, requires.
